Since 2011, Kyle Canjar has been part of the guitar faculty at the Flint School of Performing Arts (FSPA).  There, he maintains a private studio, teaches group classes and workshops, has provided sectional coaching for the Flint Youth Philharmonia and the Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra, and has been a recurrent performer.  At the FSPA he has facilitated master classes and performed for Sharon Isbin, Pepe Romero and Tony Romano; and has performed in a master class with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. He also directs the Jazz Band at Kettering University.

Kyle Canjar is a concertizing, classical guitarist based out of Flint, Michigan, who is known for his interpretations of Brazilian works for guitar.  He received a Master of Music from Wayne State University in classical guitar performance where is currently working on a Master of Fine Arts. While completing his first graduate degree, Kyle was awarded the prestigious Thomas C. Rumble Fellowship as well as many other academic and talent-based scholarships.

 

He earned his BA in classical guitar performance from Wayne State University. During this time, Kyle explored his fondness for Brazilian compositions, living for one year in the city of Belo Horizonte in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He was awarded a scholarship to study at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he remained for two semesters studying classical guitar privately with Flavio Barbeitas.  While maintaining a full-time academic schedule at UFMG, in the music department, Kyle also studied “Musica Popular Brasiliera” (popular Brazilian music) with Alvimar Liberato.
